Yearly, in the spring you can add a growth ball to the pond basket. If the clump grows too large by May, you should take the Yellow Flag Iris out of the pond. Divide the clump into smaller pieces and plant only one piece back inside the pond. The Yellow Flag Iris is not frost resistant

You can place the basket deeper into the pond during the winter so that it stays under the ice. You can also put the Yellow Flag Iris in a basket (in a tub of water) and place it in a frost-free area.
