Variegated Geranium - Plant

Variegated Geranium (Pelargonium 'Mrs. Pollock') is a strong and early flowering patio plant. Use a pot or planter with holes in the base. Cover the bottom with a layer of potsherds or hydro granules. Put in potting compost mixed with some sharp sand. Plant the root ball of the variegated Geranium at the appropriate depth. Fill with soil and press firmly. Water your geraniums 'Mrs Pollock' immediately after planting. Line a porous pot with plastic or use a pot liner. This prevents evaporation and the soil will dry out less quickly. Place the plants in a position with complete sunshine so that they can bloom to their maximum.

The very rich blooming Pelargonium 'Mrs. Pollock', with its striking variegated leaves and sturdy stems, makes an excellent bedding plant. Plant it along a border, bed or garden path and admire its beautiful pink flowers. The flowers bloom all summer until late autumn and will capture many admiring glances. Provide it with feed regularly.

The official name is Pelargonium 'Mrs Pollock'. The geraniums in this group have thick stems that can store high levels of moisture. Their stems are sometimes called 'succulent'. Due to the 'Moisture reservoir', this plant tolerates drought very well and can be placed in flower pots and planters in direct sunlight. This geranium species is also called Pelargonium Hortorum.

Carefully water your Variegated Geranium in small amounts every morning, preferably avoiding the leaves. Prevent the compost from drying out, even though this plant fights well against drought. The roots definitely should not be too wet, as constant wetness can lead to root rot. Therefore, ensure adequate drainage. Regularly remove the dead flowers of geranium 'Mrs Pollock' to ensure prolonged flowering, cut the stems off just above a young shoot. For an extra rich flowering we recommend adding plant food along with the irrigation water during the summer. 

The Variegated Geranium is not a hardy plant, but you can preserve it during the winter. Cut back the stems and remove old foliage. Before the first frost, place the pot in a cool, light room (7-10˚ C). Water in small amounts (preferably in the dish under the pot), so that the compost does not dry out. In the early spring, place your Variegated Geranium in a slightly larger pot with fresh potting compost. Prune all stems to approximately half their size, just above a young shoot. As the weather gets warmer, give the Variegated Geranium 'Mrs Pollock' more food and water. Halfway through the spring, it will be ready to head back outdoors to adorn your patio. Watch out for late night frosts. Since this plant can be preserved, you can grow very large plants. The Pelargonium 'Mrs. Pollock' can also make a great houseplant.
