Tyrolean Hanging Carnations - Plant

Ordering options

Tyrolean Hanging Carnations are particularly great for large flower pots or hanging baskets. Take a large pot with holes in the base. Cover the bottom with potsherds or hydro granules. Put some potting compost in the pot and mix in some sharp sand and lime. Plant the Hanging Carnations at the appropriate depth. Fill with compost and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. Place the pot in a sunny area. The hanging carnations thrive best in a spot in full sun or partial shade,
Hanging Carnations mixedThe Tyrolean Hanging Carnations look fantastic in a hanging basket when combined with other varieties. Create a charming mix with Dianthus Caryophyllus, Antirrhinum Repens 'Sultan' and Pelargonium.
Dianthus caryophyllus is indeed a very popular cut flower. These short stemmed varieties are only suitable for small arrangements. For the florist, special long stemmed varieties are grown. Cut the flowers early in the morning and put into a vase with cut flower food. So you can also enjoy the floral scent indoors too.
Remove the dead flowers on a regular basis to prolong the flowering period of the Hanging Carnations. For an even more abundant flowering, we recommend adding a fertilizer regularly during the summer when watering. The flowers experience a rich bloom from spring until early autumn. Carnations are quite tolerant of drought, so do not let the soil get too wet.
