Tiger Lilies Mixed - Bulb

The bulbs of the Mixed Tiger Lilies should be planted 12-15 cm deep during the spring. Place your lilies in a spot with complete or partial sunshine. Prepare a suitable hole and plant the bulbs with the point facing upwards, spaced approximately 15 cm apart. Water immediately after planting. The Mixed Tiger Lilies should grow in loose, humus-rich soil. You can improve the soil by adding compost and cow manure pellets. This plant tolerates acidic soil and does not like calcium. The bulbs of the Mixed Tiger Lilies can remain in the same spot for several years.

Due to their strong flower stems, the Mixed Tiger Lilies grow very well in flower pots and planters. You can fill the entire pot with these beautiful lilies. Plant the bulbs approximately 10 cm apart from each other. Alternatively, you can create a special combination with other lily bulbs and the much lower growing aster (Callistephus).

Lilies make great cut flowers; in fact, the delicious scent of flowers fills the living room in seconds. Definitely plant a group of lilies in your flower garden. To avoid pollen stains while cutting the lilies, make sure the anthers of the flower are facing away from you.

Add plant food when watering regularly during the flowering period of the Mixed Tiger Lilies. Lilies can suffer from the lily beetle which is bright red in colour, the grubs are yellow. To prevent them from eating the leaves and other arterial parts of the lily, remove the beetles, eggs or grubs and destroy them. During winter, cover the Lily bulbs with a layer of leaves to protect them from severe frost. Lilies grown in pots can be overwintered in a frost free area.

The Tiger Lilies love to face the warm sun, but it is important to keep their 'feet' cool. For this to be achieved, plant low growing plants around the lilies to protect the soil. Don't place your pot of lilies in complete sunshine! Choose a sheltered spot with sufficient day time sun.
