Orange Sun Star - Bulb
Plant the Sun Stars' root balls approximately 7 cm deep, during the spring. Sun Star grows best in well-drained soil in a sunny area. The ground should be somewhat sandy, but this certainly isn't a requirement.

Sun Star is originally from South Africa. It belongs to the Bulbous family of the 'White South Wind Lily' which which is well known as a cut flower. Sun Star is very attractive as a cut flower and will last a long time in a vase. Another one of its relatives is the 'Ornithogalum nutans'. This species can be found throughout Europe in the wild.
Give Sun Star plenty of water during its growth. Remove any faded flowers by pulling gently to separate them from the main stem, when the leaves turn yellow the foliage can be cut back. Sun Star's root balls are fairly hardy, however, during the cold weather they can be protected with a layer of fallen leaves. Did you plant your Sun Star in a pot?
