The Kangaroo Paw grows and looks best in a beautiful flower pot or planter. Choose a pot with holes in the base. Cover the bottom with a layer of potsherds and hydro-granules. Mix fresh potting compost with some sharp sand. Put the mixture into the pot and place the roots of Anigozanthos' Bush Elegance' at the right depth. Fill with compost and press firmly. Generously water your Kangaroo Paw 'Elegance Bush' immediately after planting. Place in a sheltered, very bright place. Protect the plant against direct sunlight.

This particular Kangaroo Paw species comes from Australia, where the plant grows in sandy soil. In fact, its flowers are the national symbol of Australia. You've probably seen the velvety, hairy flowers of Kangaroo Paw in flower arrangements since they make great cut flowers.

Although Anigozanthos ‘Bush Elegance’ tolerates drought fairly well, make sure that it receives plenty of water and also that it has adequate drainage. Beware of waterlogged soil, as this can cause root rot. For a healthy flowering we recommend adding plant food regularly when watering.

Kangaroo Paw overwintered

Anigozanthos 'Bush Elegance' is not hardy, but it can be preserved over the winter in a bright, cool place at 10-12˚ C giving it moderate amounts of water. As the weather gets warmer you can place your Kangaroo Paw back outside in the garden and water more often. The Kangaroo Paw is also quite suitable as an indoor plant.
