Goldenrod 'Strahlenkrone' - Plant
Make sure the Solidago 'Strahlenkrone' is soaked well - place the root ball in a bucket of water prior to planting. Prepare a large hole and loosen the soil with a fork. Place the Goldenrod root ball in the plant hole at the correct depth with the top of the root ball just below ground level. Refill the hole with soil and press it all firmly down. Water directly after planting. Solidago 'Strahlenkrone' grows in most types of soil. Improve poor garden soil with compost and granulated cow manure if necessary. Goldenrod 'Strahlenkrone' is best in a place in full sun, if not possible choose a spot in partial shade.

‘Strahlenkrone’ is related to the Asteraceae family. Commonly known as ‘Goldenrod’ - the 'full stems of tiny golden flowers' explains the name. The Latin 'solidus' refers to 'strong, sturdy or healthy, ‘Ago’ means 'make'. Medicinal properties have been attributed to the plant since the Middle Ages.
Cut the plant back to ground level every winter. To protect the plant from too much moisture during winter, cover it with leaves. The plant grows back every year on new shoots. Division of the plants works well in winter or early spring. Enrich the soil with well decayed compost when replanting – this also helps to keep the ground well drained. This plant even does well in soil full of rubble and grit. Goldenrod 'Strahlenkrone' is also drought tolerant.
