Dahlia 'Gallery ® Pablo' ® - Tuber

Dahlia tubers can be planted in the spring. Low growing bedding Dahlias are not hardy so do watch out for late frosts – end April to mid-May is a good time for planting them in the garden. Prepare a wide hole, loosen the soil with a fork and improve poor soil with some well rotted garden manure. Plant the Dahlia 'Gallery ® Pablo' tubers carefully at 30 cm apart, and cover with 3-5 cm soil. Press down carefully and water immediately. Dahlias will flower more in a warm and sunny spot.

Dahlia 'Gallery ® Pablo' tubers can be 'forced' to flower early. Place them in moist compost at about 15-20 ˚C, from the start of April. Pot them up when shoots appear. Allow to harden off outdoors from the start of May and plant out in the garden (or a bigger pot) from mid-May.

Dahlia 'Gallery ® Pablo' is perfect as a cut flower and is long-lasting in the vase. Dahlia 'Gallery ® Pablo' is best for small bouquets or arrangments. Cut your stems preferably early morning and plunge them immediately into a vase of luke-warm water containing cut flower food.

With a monthly feed, your Dahlia 'Gallery ® Pablo' will bloom right through to the first frosts. Cut off any overblown blooms to encourage reflowering. Take care that the surrounding soil does not dry out in periods of drought.

Dahlia tubers are easy to store over the winter. Carefully dig them up after the first frost. Cut all back to 15 cm, to prevent mix ups next year – label the tubers correctly. Shake off excess soil and store the dahlia tubers in a box filled with compost or sharp sand in a frost-free area. Plant again in the spring and your Dahlia 'Gallery ® Pablo' will reward you once more with gorgeous flowers.
