Prepare a suitable hole of 50 x 50 x 50 cm in good, loose soil when planting the Apple Tree. Plant the Apple Tree at the appropriate depth in the hole. The top of the root ball should be just slightly below ground level. Fill the hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. The Apple Tree grows best in a sunny area, although partial shade is also well-tolerated.

Apple 'Flamingo'in a pot

This apple tree grows well in a large flower pot or planter. The tree itself takes up little space but provides great benefits. Plant in a sheltered, sunny area. You can create a 'mini-orchard' by planting the Apple Tree, Dwarf Peach, Cherry and Apricot in pots and placing them together on your patio or decking.

Columnar Apple grows quite slowly and does not require much space. Plant this tree close to other varieties such as Cox and Elstar for cross pollination to ensure the fruits will grow. You can pick the apples in October and November. Did you know that the apple is part of the rose family? Look closely at the beautiful white flowers and you'll definitely notice the similarity with a single-flowered rose.

An easy to grow apple tree, water regularly and don't let the root ball dry out. It is recommended to give it some fertilizer early in the year with low nitrogen (N) and high potassium (K).

Columnar apple tree can be pruned

Columnar Apple does not form side branches, thus, pruning is not necessary. Is the tree growing too high? If so, you can trim the top of it. Completely remove dead branches. Do not prune when there is signs of frost.
