20 Large-Flowered Double Begonias in 4 Colours - Tuber
Begonias will bring you months of colours at an affordable price. For months of enjoyment, every day from early summer well into autumn. Plant these begonias in beds, along borders or in groups. They also make excellent pot plants for the patio or decking. Wherever you plant them, they will inject a vivid splash of colour. They are very undemanding, requiring very little care and they flower in great abundance. The tubers can be planted out again each year if kept cool and frost-free in winter.
The ideal time to plant begonias is in the spring, once the frost period has finished. Plant the tubers with their concave side facing upwards, about 20 cm apart from each other, and cover them with a thin layer of soil. Do you prefer to enjoy the colours of your begonias earlier? If so, plant the tubers in planters in February or March before putting them outside in the garden. The warm temperature of your house will allow your Double Begonias to bloom earlier. This way, you can admire your begonias much longer. The young plants don't like to be under full sunshine right away, so you should try to avoid this. Begonias are also great in borders and planters on the terrace or balcony.
This tuberous begonia leaf has an asymmetric shape with one side longer than the others. Double Begonias have tubers that can be preserved throughout the winter. We recommend to lift the tubers from the ground before the first frost and to keep them in a dry place during the winter. In the spring, once there are no more night frosts, you can place the begonias back out in the garden. You can soon enjoy the colourful flowers once again.
Begonias experience a rich bloom.Double Begonias should preferably be placed in partial shade. However, if they are placed under full sunshine, make sure you give them plenty of water (approximately 2-3 times per week). Water the plants in the afternoon once the sun has disappeared, otherwise, the leaves may get burned. It is best to fertilize your begonias regularly so that they will have a richer and more beautiful bloom.
