13 Ground Covers in 3 varieties - Plant
These ground cover plants grow best in the garden. Prepare a large planting hole and loosen the soil well. Put the root balls of the plants at the correct depth in the hole. The top of the root balls should be just below ground level. Fill the hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. This ground cover collection grows and thrives best in well-drained, sandy soil in full sun.
The long, supple stems of Coronilla varia are heavily branched and covered with fine pinnate leaves. The beautiful colourful flowers of the variegated crown vetch are white, light purple and sit in clusters. These charming flowers appear all summer long. Pods will appear after the flowering period.
These ground cover plants are very strong plants that can tolerate drought quite well. The flowering will continue throughout summer, cutting back is not necessary. Over the winter the leaves die. Cover the plants in winter with a layer of fallen leaves. In spring cut back all shoots by half their growth. Soon you will begin to see signs of new life. These perennials are hardy.
